Mary’s Media Kit
Mary meant to grow up living all over the world but
someone else got that life. Instead she spent her
childhood in Spokane, Washington, a charming city in
Eastern Washington just a hop, skip and a job from the
Idaho and Canadian borders.
When college came around Mary indulged in wanderlust,
attending Universities in Seattle, Hawaii, Italy and
eventually Washington D.C. Not yet ready to settle down
she proceeded to execute a hike around the world,
starting from Washington state and heading east. The
plan was, once she reached Japan her adventuring days
would be over and she’d go on to Life Goal #2 – which
was to join a convent. Taking a vow of silence did not
sound like such a hardship, given that if no one was
talking there was more time to live a very full and
stimulating mental life.
Alas, best-laid plans backfired as her Prince Charming
caught up with her in England where they married in
London. They returned to live in the US, planning on
returning to Europe as soon as possible. That plan was
temporarily shelved as their first child arrived, followed
quickly with numbers two through six. The dream of a
peaceful life in a Convent was a thing of the past!
Seeking to escape diapers and dishes, Mary joined the
Corporate world, working in both the Accounting and
Financial fields before she wised up and realized what
she really wanted to do – write. And she did! Freelance
articles. A non-fiction book. She became an editor for a
regional magazine and contributing editor for two others.
In short, she wrote everything except letters to her
mother, who still reminds her.
These days Mary lives in a picturesque port town on
Washington’s coast with her children and a husband who
learned how to cook because Mary tends to forget things
like meal prep when caught up in a good plot line.
